Sun in the sky

This past three day weekend was my idea of Summer-time in a nutshell. There was sun, beautiful breeze, swim suits and tanning lotion, friends, music, bbq's, sand (when paired with wind-not so great), bike riding, peach lemonade drinking, hiking, good decision making... and colorfully painted toes. Seriously, the world would be a happier place with three day weekends every week.

Currently listening to Muse, "feeling good".
Sun in the sky, you know how I feel, birds flying high, you know how I feel.
Fish in the sea, you know how I feel.
It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life, and I'm feeling good."

Suma-suma-sumatime

I love my job, but at times I really miss doing my own design, my own way, with no rules or limits. Therefore, every once in a while I need what I like to call a "creative energizer." I take about 15 minutes and mess around and see what I come up with... A couple days ago I came up with this...

Mallory and I dancing on the boardwalk listening to one of my favorite bands, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero's. Please disregard the word, "bitch" in the copy... it's part of the lyrics, but I swear the song is amazing! Make sure to look it up, 40 Day Dream. Anyway, I was pretty happy with how it turned out, and then got some really great and loving feedback from friends and family on Facebook, so I decided to give it another go...

It has a much different feel than the first one because the original colors were a bit dark. I started playing with the levels and contrast of the image and then noticed how Summer and Steve's stance and white shirts formed a heart... It's such happy accidents like this that make me love designing. My sister loves The Little Prince, so I found a quote from the book and placed the text on top. And ta da!

Hopefully next week I will have more time for some creative energizers, for now, it's back to work!

Let Them Eat Cake

Well I am very behind in my blogging, but I just downloaded the Blogger app for my phone. Hopefully this will help me be a but more consistent and up to date?

With the help of my sister Summer, brother in law Steve, and organic brown eggs, the greatest cake ever was made for my father's birthday!

The inside of the cake was bright striped layers of deliciousness with butter cream Frosting. Summer's blog has some really amazing pictures so if you want more check out 27year.blogspot.com.
