Royal Wedding Tea Party

I admit that I have not been into the whole Royal Wedding hoopla like most people, but as most of you know when you work 5 days a week- and everyday kind of seems the same, you have to find little moments in life to celebrate and get excited about. Well, that's exactly what two of my co-workers (and friends) and I did. We decided that we wanted to make big British hats to wear to work in order to celebrate the monumental day. Make no mistake, these are no traditional hats... these are works of art!

Princess Jessica

Princess Mallory

Princess Mykaela

Each of us used different materials. Jessica started with a hat from Michaels, Mallory started with a visor, and I used a paper plate and coffee filters. All of our co-workers got a kick out of the hats and so our company Photographer, Johanna Love, was kind enough to take out Royal Tea Party pictures. It's days like today that I am so thankful to work at a company like Stampington & Company , a place where weird art kids are accepted and appreciated!

PS. I can't wait to watch the actual wedding... I saw pictures and Catherine looked beautiful.  I hope they have a very blessed and happy life together.

This Train is Bound for Glory

The Train Bound for Glory. We were lucky enough to see
the train actually pull into the station with all band members
anxiously peeping out the windows at their fans.
The Venue- Ports O'Call Village.
The "Hipsters"
Old Crow Medicine Show
Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros
Mumford & Sons
This past weekend was wonderful. Not only did I have Summer and Steve in town (Summer has all of those pictures), but on Friday, Mallory and I got to go to a show in San Pedro. Each band performed so well and somehow sounded better live than they do recorded. There was lots of people, jammin', dancing, singing, and just letting loose for a few hours. I have found myself mildly obsessed with the one band that I didn't previously know, Old Crow Medicine Show... They are between folk and bluegrass, and I am finding myself to love it more and more!

A Different View

I have realized that most of my posts (not that there are that many) have California beach sunsets. Although the ocean is beautiful, I find myself missing Arizona's sunsets with the purple, pink, and gold painted skies.

Last weekend I got to travel on back home to AZ to spend time with my family (some from out of town), some great friends, and my hometown. These trips always go by way too fast, so I try to savor every moment and do my best to see everyone although I usually fail at that part. In this compact week there was visiting with relatives from Detroit, sock monkey making, family time, laughs and conversation with best friends over great food and wine, birthday crown making, birthday lunch, organizing old boxes full of memories, wallpaper removing (definitely not the best part of the weekend), much needed back rubs (Mim, I still owe you big time), and as always there was lots and lots of warmth, love, and hugs.

As I sat on the plane staring at the sky, about to depart for Orange County - I realized that its not just the Arizona sunsets that puts warmth in my heart, but the people, who I am truly so blessed and thankful for.

Sad news for me, but good news for you!

Well, sadly after waiting over a week I am disappointed to say that none of my sock submissions made it into the top 25 (actually 28) this year. It was still a really fun exercise for me and thanks to you all for giving me your feedback and comments! Hopefully I will find some more design competitions and maybe one day make it farther than the first round haha.

So its sad news for me, but good news for you because now you can go onto Sock It To Me's Facebook page and vote for your favorites.. Just click here There are some really great ones, some clever ones, and some I am just not too sure about! Enjoy and have a magnificent monday.

Sock it to me!

Well after a wonderful weekend spent with friends visiting from Arizona, it is now Monday and it is back to the grind. At work I have to adhere to the Stampington & Company design look, and although I love my job and their designs, I miss the total creative freedom that I had in college. In order to still test my imagination and design I want to look into as many design contests as possible. Jessica found this 'design a sock contest' and I am really excited to submit some socks. I am posting the link so if you or anyone else you know has interest in designing you can all submit! I'll also post my sock ideas as I finish them for you to see and give feedback on.

So far I only have one design, I call it The Gladiator! haha. Kind of silly, but it could be cute and fun and if you know me, you know that I am obsessed with the movie The Gladiator, so it seems kind of perfect for me :) Let me know what you think and if there is anything in particular you would like to see as a sock!

Happy Monday to you!

It's a miracle...

two posts... in two days! Here is a little something that I made for my computer desktop. It has some lyrics from one of my favorite songs by The Muse with an image of the wedge at the end of Balboa Penninsula. I am showing you the before and after image, because if you look closely, you will be able to see where I used some photoshop to fake a group of birds. Sneaky sneaky!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!
